Leonard Floyd and Roquan Smith played together as freshmen at UGA. Now the duo will share the field together in Chicago.
Smith was drafted eighth by the Bears in the first round, besting Floyd’s ninth pick in the 2016 draft. That selection allowed Smith to replace Floyd as the highest linebacker pick in school history.
“Leonard Floyd, I looked up to the guy a lot,” Smith said. “Coming from Georgia, he was an older guy. … So it was definitely big looking up to him. I’m a young guy, big-eyed freshman, like this guy is pretty special to see him go ninth overall to the Chicago Bears, so I’m beyond excited right now.” – Chicago Tribune 27 Apr 2018 By Colleen Kane
