During player interviews on Tuesday, junior inside linebacker Monty Rice was asked what he thought of the different Southeastern Conference venues that the UGA football teams get to play in. Specifically, his thoughts on Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, TN, the biggest in the conference, and where the Bulldogs will face off against the Volunteers on Saturday night.

“I didn’t even know it was the biggest. It doesn’t really matter to me,” said Rice. “Let’s just play.”

Rice also talked about where he thought the Dawgs’ defense was coming off the bye week, what UGA’s strengths and weaknesses were, and the depth of the inside linebacking group.

On the defense after bye week…

“We’re in a good spot but we can always continue to get better. There’s a lot of stuff that we can fix and if we can fix those things and keep getting better we can do some really good things.”

On the strengths and weaknesses of the defense…

“Our biggest strength is obviously the amount of people we have that can come in and play at the level we play at. The biggest weakness is that we need to communicate better and make sure everyone is on the same page.”

On the depth at the linebacker position…

“We’ve got a lot of depth at linebacker. We got Tae (Crowder), Nakobe (Dean), Channing (Tindall), (Nate) Mcbride. We got a lot of people that can play. The younger guys are learning really fast, Rian (Davis) and Trezman (Marshall); so, we have a lot of guys that can play.”
