Steve Sarkisian (HC) – Steve Sarkisian has successfully led his Texas roster to the SEC Championship in their first season in the conference. In addition, he has clinched a playoff spot for the second time in his Texas head coaching career. The Longhorns completed the regular season with an 11-1 record, their one loss being to the Georgia Bulldogs. Texas will likely be ranked second in the College Football Playoff Poll after No. 2 Ohio State’s rivalry weekend loss.

Matthew Golden (WR #2) – Wide receiver Matthew Golden has the most TDs of any receiver or running back on the Texas roster. Plus, he’s second in receiving yards for the team with an average of 14.8 per catch. Against Texas A&M, Golden caught three passes for 73 yards, a team high. With the entering of the transfer portal by Georgia DB Julian Humphrey, the Dawgs are met with an interesting scenario. One of the former starting DBs is leaving, so Georgia needs to stay healthy in order to stay experienced. With this being said, Golden and the Texas wideouts have a chance to cement themselves in Longhorn history against a team with a unique situation in their secondary.

Quinn Ewers (QB #3) – Having been the leader of the Texas offense since returning against Oklahoma, Quinn Ewers has been a sufficient quarterback. He hasn’t been extraordinary but has won games, and at the end of the day, that’s all that matters. There was a minor scare in Ewers’ health, as he underwent an MRI to look at his ankle after the Longhorns defeated Kentucky. Yet, he was still able to make the start against the Aggies last weekend in College Station. However, Arch Manning used his legs to score one of Texas’ two TDs.

Gunnar Helm (TE #85) – Totaling for six receptions for 62 yards against Georgia in the last matchup, Gunnar Helm has been a major threat through the air throughout the season. Even though he’s a tight end, Helm leads the team in receiving yards. He’ll need to have another good, if not great, game against the Dawgs in order to give Texas a chance.

Anthony Hill, Jr. (LB #0) – As the season comes to a close, Anthony Hill, Jr. stands at the top of the total tackle category. Finishing the regular season with 84 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, and an interception, Hill Jr. surprisingly was not named a Butkus Award finalist. Last time the two teams met, Hill, Jr. recorded the Longhorns’ lone sack. It will again be crucial for the Georgia offensive line to slow down the dominant former five-star.

Jahdae Barron (DB #7) – Recently named a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, Jahdae Barron is seen by college football voters as one of the best defensive backs in the sport. He is projected as a day one or two pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. With eight pass deflections, four interceptions, and a sack, he’s a threat across the field.

Michael Taaffe (Safety #16) – Michael Taaffe had one of the best performances against Georgia back in October. He’s been on an upward slope this year. On November 9, Taaffe was named Jim Thorpe Award National Player of the Week. Last weekend, he picked off A&M’s Marcel Reed in the only interception Reed threw of the game. Similar to Barron, Taaffe has a sack, multiple pass deflections, and multiple interceptions. Carson Beck needs to again prepare well for a talented secondary in the Longhorns.

Hall of Fame Texas Men’s Swimming Coach Eddie Reese led the Longhorns to 15 national championships (in five different decades) and 46 consecutive conference titles.
