Head Coach Kirby Smart and Lawson Luckie addressed the media on Tuesday evening at Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall ahead of their matchup with the No. 7 Tennessee Volunteers.
Following last week’s disappointing loss to the Ole Miss Rebels, the Bulldogs now face their rival from up north in what seems to be a do-or-die game. With a win, Georgia is in a great spot to make the College Football Playoff. With a loss, they will need a miracle. What will be different about their recent games will be arguably the most important factor in college football: a raucous home crowd cheering you on. This factor was evident a few years ago when Tennessee travelled to Athens for a premiere matchup.
In front of Sanford’s all-time loudest crowd, Stetson Bennett and the Bulldogs took down the No. 1 Volunteers 27-13 in an instant classic. The crowd was so impactful that Coach Heupel’s team was flagged for seven false starts throughout the game. The Bulldog Faithful needs to have similar energy to help save their team’s season.
Sophomore tight end Lawson Luckie reflected on his experience of the 2022 Georgia vs. Tennessee game:
“Last time I was there I was there as a recruit… I remember it was so loud, I remember when it was raining, like to feel like the team got better, you know what I mean. I feel like it was so loud, it was electric. That was the best home atmosphere I’ve ever seen.”
This weekend’s game will be the first game in Sanford Stadium since October 12th. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM on ABC.
