[su_spacer size=”20″] UGA Head Coach Mark Richt addresses the media after the football team’s first scrimmage which took place Friday afternoon on day 11 of Fall Camp 2015.

Richt discusses the number of plays the team ran, the depth of the team, and the format of Friday afternoon’s scrimmage. No detailed stats were given other than generalized comments about how the offensive and defensive units did in the situations they were put in as far as the format of the scrimmage:

It tested them. We ran probably between 50 and 60 plays with our 1s and 2s. Our 3s got at least 32 plays. That is the most plays that we have had our 3s get in a long time. A lot of that had to do with just the depth that we are beginning to create. We’ve been relatively healthy in this camp. We start with 105, and we were able to get two really good number 3 units, which is great for the development of those players. And also, quite frankly, it gives the 2s and the 1s a little bit of a break if the 3s are taking a rep every third rack so to speak.

The format was 8-play drives from the 25, from the 30, and then from the 35, and then we went to the plus 40. We had a one minute drill at the end of the half, which the defense dominated both of those. We had a couple of Hail Mary shots that the defense defended. We then went to 3rd and short, and I think the offense got it 3 out of 4 times, maybe 4 out of 4. We went to 3rd and medium and that is when the offense kind of sparked up a little bit, started making plays. They actually made some long touchdowns a couple of times in the 3rd and medium and the 3rd and long. We went 3rd and medium for 4 shots. We went 3rd and long for 4 shots.

We had two red zone drives from the 12, and both offensive units scored touch downs. Then, on the goal line, I don’t know if the offense scored in that drill or not. Maybe one time. I don’t remember if we completed the pass or not. We threw one pass, but every time we ran the ball, we got stopped; so, the defense bowed their necks on the goal line and did a good job there.
