University of Georgia catcher Mason Meadows has been named to the D1Baseball Freshman All-America team, the site announced recently.
 
 
A 6-2, 225-pound redshirt freshman from Roswell, Ga., Meadows played in 52 games including 44 starts for the Bulldogs in 2018. He batted .289 with three home runs, 25 RBI, a .421 on-base percentage and an impressive .998 fielding percentage. All of his home runs were timely blasts including a memorable first one, a seventh-inning grand slam to beat The Citadel in Charleston. The others were a two-run shot in the eighth inning of a series-clinching win over Alabama in Tuscaloosa, and a three-run home run to break a 4-4 tie in the series-opening victory over Tennessee at Foley Field.
 
 

 
 
Meadows helped Georgia post a 39-21 mark, play host to an NCAA Regional as a national top eight seed and conclude the year with a consensus top 25 final ranking. Earlier this summer, he made the SEC Coaches All-Freshman Team. He is the second Bulldog to earn Freshman All-America honors, joining pitcher/outfielder C.J. Smith who made the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Second Team as a utility player. Currently, Meadows is playing in the Cape Cod Summer League for the Harwich Mariners.
