The UGA equestrian team’s 2017-2018 schedule was announced and made public on Wednesday by Head Coach Meghan Boenig as the Ladies and their steeds look to defend their 2016-2017 SEC crown.

In what promises to be another exciting season for the Bulldogs, Georgia will face the three other teams that advanced to the semifinal round of the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) National Championship at the conclusion of last season.

“We are looking forward to a great 2017-18 season and our competition schedule has everything we need to prepare for success,” Boenig said. “From our consistently tough SEC competitors, to travel on both the east and west coasts, it strikes a balance between home and away, conference and non-conference, pushing back to back meet weekends and having a needed breath.”

Bulldog fans will get their first glimpse at the 2017-18 squad at the annual Red and Black Scrimmage held on Friday, Sept. 22 at 4 p.m. at the UGA Equestrian Complex in Bishop. The 2017 SEC Championship team will also be honored with a ring ceremony at the conclusion of the competition.

The season officially starts on the road as Georgia travels to Fresno State on Sept. 29, before returning home to welcome the Aggies of Texas A&M for the conference opener on Oct. 13.

The Bulldogs head back on the road for a meet against TCU on Oct. 20.

The Gamecocks of South Carolina will come to Bishop on Nov. 3 before closing out the fall slate with two road meets.

A SEC Championship rematch between Georgia and Auburn in Auburn, Alabama is set for Nov. 10. The Bulldogs will then head north to take on Delaware State on Nov. 17.

Competition resumes for the spring portion of the schedule with Georgia welcoming Auburn to the UGA Equestrian Complex on Feb. 10.

Georgia will then travel to face SEC foe South Carolina on Feb. 17 before its home finale against SMU on March 2.

Regular season competition will conclude on the road, as the Bulldogs will travel to College Station to take on the Aggies of Texas A&M on March 10.

Georgia will look to defend its SEC title at the 2018 SEC Championship, which is scheduled for March 30-31 in Blythewood, South Carolina with the Gamecocks as hosts.

The NCEA National Championship will be held April 19-21 in Waco, Texas.
