A strong defensive effort from the Georgia men’s basketball team led to its 59-41 defeat of Armstrong State Friday night at Stegeman Coliseum.

It was also good to see our young players respond to a crowd because it’s the first time that they’ve had to do that. Obviously playing as many guys as we played you aren’t going to have any rhythm offensively. I was pleased with a lot of things tonight and there are certainly a lot of things we can keep working on. It’s a good starting point for us.”

Georgia finished off the first-half holding a 30-22 lead against the Pirates heading into the break. Yante Maten led all scorers at half tallying six points on nine minutes of action. Georgia’s bench provided a large spark in the first-half scoring 18 of the team’s 30 total points.
