HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — Propelled by a second-round 11-under-par 277, the Georgia men’s golf team moved into first place in the 13th annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate on Monday.

The Bulldogs logged 36 holes on Monday on the Wexford Plantation course, which is a par-72, 6,913-yard layout. Georgia opened with a 2-over 290, then followed that up with the 11-under 277 in the second round. At 9-under 567, the Bulldogs own a 1-shot lead over TCU (568) and an 8-stroke cushion over Memphis (575).

In the first round, freshman Davis Thompson set the tone with a career-best 5-under 67. Senior Zach Healy and sophomore Spencer Ralston each signed for a 1-over 73, while junior David Mackey and sophomore Trevor Phillips both landed at 5-over 77.

Ralston posted the second-lowest loop of his career with a 6-under 66 in the second round. Healy added a 3-under 69, Mackey a 2-under 70 and Thompson an even-par 72. Phillips had the Bulldogs’ non-counting score of 1-over 73.

Ralston and Thompson are among the players tied for second at 5-under 139, three shy of Akron’s Elliott Grayson (136). Healy is 13th at 2-under 142, while Mackey is at 3-over 147 and Phillips is at 6-over 150.
