Georgia sophomore Spencer Ralston remained in the hunt for medalist honors during the second round of the Golfweek Collegiate Challenge at Cedar Rapids Country Club on Monday.
Ralston, a native of Gainesville, fired a 1-under-par 71 Monday for a total of 6-under 138 heading into Tuesday’s final round. Ralston stands third individually and is just two off the pace set by Lipscomb’s Dawson Armstrong (8-under 136).
As a team, the No. 25 Bulldogs slipped to 11th during the second round as they fired an 11-over 299. That moved Georgia to 15-over 591 for the tournament. North Carolina State has the team lead at 16-under 560, followed by Iowa (11-under 565) and San Francisco (4-under 572).
Sophomore Trevor Phillips followed Ralston with a 1-over 73, while junior Jack Larkin Jr. signed for a 4-over 76 and senior Zach Healy had a 7-over 79. Freshman John Hilliard Catanzaro had the Bulldogs’ non-counting tally of 10-over 82.
Phillips moved to 1-over 145 for the tournament, followed by Larkin at 9-over 153, Healy at 11-over 155 and Catanzaro at 16-over 160.
