[su_spacer size=”40″] The Bulldogs shot a final-round 3-over 283 to land at 2-over 842, the same score as Florida. Team honors went to LSU at 13-under 827, followed by South Carolina and Vanderbilt at 10-under 830, and Auburn and Alabama at 7-under 833.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Junior Lee McCoy paced the Bulldogs on Sunday as he posted an even-par 70. Junior Sepp Straka, sophomore Greyson Sigg and freshman Zach Healy added 1-over 71s, while senior Mookie DeMoss had Georgia’s non-counting score of 3-over 73.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Healy wound up 11th individually at 2-under 208, South Carolina’s Matthew NeSmith took medalist honors at 14-under 196, followed by Auburn’s Ben Schlottman at 8-under 202.
[su_spacer size=”40″] McCoy followed Healy at 1-under 209 for 17th, while Sigg finished at 1-over 211, DeMoss came in at 6-over 216 and Straka wound up at 8-over 218.
[su_spacer size=”40″] On May 5, the Bulldogs will learn their destination for an NCAA Regional that will be held at one of six sites May 14-16. The top five schools from each regional will advance to the NCAA Championships May 29-June 3 in Bradenton, Fla.
[su_spacer size=”40″] “None of us really played terrible golf, but we just didn’t make the birdies we needed to make,” DeMoss said. “We’ve got a lot to build on to get ready for NCAAs. We need to play well at the right time. Our goal of winning the SEC didn’t happen, but we’ve still got our main goal of winning the NCAA and we can work toward that.”
[su_spacer size=”40″] “We still have a lot of our season left,” Georgia coach Chris Haack said. “We can compete if we play well, so we need to go work on our game. We didn’t make a whole lot of birdies and a whole lot of putts this week. To win tournaments, you’d better make putts. So we’ll get back and work on that.”
