Georgia’s Zach Healy earned medalist honors for the first time in his career as he led the Bulldogs to a second-place finish in the Ka’anapali Collegiate Classic on Sunday.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Healy, a sophomore from Peachtree Corners, finished at 8-under 205, including an even-par 71 on Sunday on Royal Ka’anapali Golf Course. He claimed a 1-shot victory over Clemson’s Brad Dalke.
[su_spacer size=”40″] “I stayed really patient and tried to play stress-free golf knowing that, in the wind, tap-in pars were really good,” Healy said. “I really putted well this week and kept the ball in front of me. I made some key putts and struck the ball real well.”
[su_spacer size=”40″] The 12th-ranked Bulldogs placed second at 3-under 849 after closing with a 2-over 286. Oklahoma completed a wire-to-wire victory at 15-under 837. North Carolina State came in third (10-over 862), followed by Cal State Northridge (11-over 863) and South Carolina (12-over 864).
[su_spacer size=”40″] Healy was supported by senior Lee McCoy, who added a fifth-place finish at 2-over 215 as he capped his tournament with a 1-under 70. Junior Greyson Sigg signed for a 2-under 69 Sunday and wound up at 2-over 215, followed by redshirt freshman Jack Larkin Jr. (5-over 76, 14-over 227) and junior Jaime Lopez Rivarola (11-over 82, 19-over 232). Playing as an individual and making his collegiate debut, redshirt freshman Matthew Beringer had a third-round 5-over 76 and landed at 13-over 226.
