After defeating LSU on Thursday 4-1 in Athens, the Georgia men’s tennis team will look for their seventh conference win in a row versus Alabama this afternoon at 5:00 p.m. ET.

The No. 14 Georgia men’s tennis team overtook LSU with a dominating singles round in front of a nationally televised audience on Thursday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Playing as part of the USTA College MatchDay, the 4-1 victory lifts Georgia to its 28th consecutive conference win at home and marks the 17th straight victory over LSU. With their seventh win in the last eight contests, the Bulldogs improve to 6-0 in Southeastern play and 10-6 overall.

“It feels really good to get the win, especially with the USTA and ESPN here broadcasting our match,” head coach Manuel Diaz said. “Obviously, having a seven-match win streak in doubles was great but it was tough to keep that going. Tough to lose the doubles point today, but our guys had great energy in singles and we were very pleased to come out of here with the win.”

Thursday’s win moves Georgia to 10-6 on the season and 5-1 at home.
