Georgia men’s tennis rising sophomore Emil Reinberg and incoming freshman Nathan Ponwith put the finishing touches on another strong summer performance for the Bulldogs, as the duo won the doubles championship at the Lewis and Clark Pro Tennis Classic in Godfrey, Illinois, on Friday.
 
 
The latest win came in impressive fashion during the finals round. Reinberg and Ponwith took down the team of Jesus Bandres (Venezuela) and Facundo Mena (Argentina) in straight-sets, 6-3, 6-4, to cap off their week with the doubles title in hand.
 
 
Reinberg and Ponwith won four matches during the event, including Thursday’s semifinals victory against 2016 NCAA Doubles Champion Martin Redlicki (UCLA) and Texas star George Goldhoff — a win that propelled the Georgia tandem into the finals.
 
 
The two Bulldog underclassmen are busy getting ready for the 2016-17 season, which begins with a trip to Puerto Rico on Sept. 9-11. Reinberg enters his sophomore season after compiling 20 singles wins, including a perfect 5-0 mark in SEC play, during his rookie campaign. Ponwith, a native of Scottsdale, Arizona, signed with the Bulldogs in November and is the No. 1 signee in the country in the 2016 signing class.
 
 
Georgia returns five letterwinners off of last year’s squad that won its fourth-straight SEC title and advanced all the way to the NCAA semifinals.
