A pair of UGA men’s tennis doubles teams will meet in the finals of the 2017 Southern Intercollegiate Championships main draw today at 10:00 a.m. ET.

 
The Bulldog tandem of Robert Loeb and Jan Zielinski advanced with a 6-3, 6-2 win against UNC Asheville’s Henry Patten and Oli Nolan, while Georgia’s Walker Duncan and Wayne Montgomery took a 6-4, 6-4 victory against Sebastian Acuna and Jack MacFarlane from Georgia State.
 
 
“This matchup will be kind of weird. I mean, we play each other in practice every day so we know each other really well,” Zielinski said. “It’s interesting because last year I played with Walker against Robert and Wayne so this year we’ve switched teams. It’s going to be fun. Either of us winning will be great. If they win, Walker takes two titles in a row. If we win, I do. So it’s exciting either way.”
 
 
Day three of the Southern Intercollegiate Championships featured strong winds and cloudy skies at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. Doubles started early in the day, and the Bulldogs had a chance to also have an all red and black singles finals, but it was not to be.
 
 
Georgia’s Zielinski and Emil Reinberg used wins in the quarterfinals to advance to the main draw semis later in the afternoon. Zielinski fell, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 to Tim Sandkaulen from Ole Miss, while Reinberg tripped up against Henry Patten from UNC Asheville, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (2), 6-4.
