The Georgia men’s tennis team will compete this weekend at the 2017 Oracle / ITA National Fall Championships in Palm Desert, California. This tournament will mark the end of the Bulldogs fall tennis season.

The inaugural fall championships will feature a 64-player singles draw, while doubles will consist of a 32-team draw. Matches will take place at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa and the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. Players qualified for the tournament through designated placings at earlier ITA National Championships and the ITA Regional Championships Presented by Oracle.

Four players — Walker Duncan, Wayne Montgomery, Emil Reinberg and Jan Zielinski — will represent Georgia in the singles draw, while two doubles teams — Robert Loeb/Zielinski and Duncan/Montgomery — will compete for the Bulldogs in doubles.

“I want to commend Oracle and the ITA for giving us an event like this to conclude the fall,” head coach Manuel Diaz said. “This is great for college tennis, and we look forward to competing against the best in the nation. Our guys have had a good fall, and I thought we really played well at the Southeast Regionals a few weeks ago. We need to build on that performance and compete at the highest level this week in California. We are looking forward to it.”

Three Georgia players are seeded in the 64-player singles draw with Reinberg at No. 6, Duncan at No. 13 and Montgomery at No. 14. In doubles, Loeb and Zielinski are seeded fifth.

This is the sixth and final event for the Bulldogs this fall. Georgia has been paced so far by Duncan’s 14-4 overall singles mark while Montgomery boasts a 13-4 record. The two met in the finals of the ITA Southeast Regional, with Duncan getting the better half in 6-2, 6-3 win.
