The seventh-ranked Georgia men’s tennis team continued with their winning ways on day two of the MLK Invitational in Atlanta, GA., adding to its weekend total with five singles wins and three doubles victories against in-state rival and No. 43 Georgia Tech.

 
The Bulldogs began the day with doubles action where Georgia won three out of the four matches. They then won five out of a possible eight matches in singles action to finish the day.
 
“Today was a productive day,” head coach Manny Diaz said. “I thought we played well, especially in doubles and I was pleased to see Austin, Walker, Wayne and Ben win pretty decisively. They had pretty good days. Some of the other matches we could have done a few things a little bit better, but we will grow from this competition.”
 
In doubles, Georgia’s No. 10 pair of seniors Ben Wagland and Austin Smith set the tone with a 6-2 victory over Georgia Tech’s Carlos Benito and Andrew Li. The Bulldogs’ Paul Oosterbaan and Jan Zielinski quickly followed suit with a 6-4 win over Christopher Eubanks and Nathan Rakitt. The No. 45 duo of Wayne Montgomery and Emil Reinberg earned Georgia’s third doubles victory with a 6-4 showing against Georgia Tech’s No. 36 pair of Casey Kay and Michael Kay. Georgia’s Walker Duncan and Andy Martinez fell to the Yellow Jackets’ Cole Fiegel and Daniel Yun 6-2.
 
The Bulldogs continued their winning ways in singles action. No. 20 Montgomery was the first off the court with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Fiegel. Wagland topped Casey Kay shortly after 6-2, 6-4 on court No. 4. No. 28 Smith defeated Benito on court No. 1 6-2, 7-5 before No. 105 Duncan posted a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 2 over the Yellow Jackets’ Rakitt. Reinberg capped Georgia’s day with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Tech’s Yun.
 
Georgia will return for the final day of the MLK Invitational on Monday as the Bulldogs take on No. 2 Oklahoma at 10 a.m. ET. Once again, no team scores will be recorded, but singles and doubles champions will be crowned based on the round robin results.
