The University of Georgia men’s tennis team will battle Georgia Tech live in front of a national television audience on Feb. 9 as part of the 2018 USTA College MatchDay.
The two teams will meet at the 1,200 seat USTA National Campus in Lake Nona, Fla., with the match slated to air on the Tennis Channel and Tennis Channel Everywhere at 7 p.m. ET. Georgia versus Tech will be one of six college tennis matches to be televised as part of the event.
“The USTA and the Tennis Channel do so much for collegiate tennis,” head coach Manuel Diaz said. “I want to thank both organizations for the hard work in getting this done. We look forward to showcasing our team while we bring a little taste of Georgia down to Lake Nona. It’s a tremendous honor, and I know our guys are excited to be a part of this special event.”
Veteran tennis broadcaster Leif Shiras and former world No. 4 James Blake will be on the call, alongside former world No. 5 Jimmy Arias, who will serve as the “sideline” reporter. The six College MatchDay events will be the first series of live college tennis programming that Tennis Channel has ever aired.
The match against the Yellow Jackets will be Georgia’s second contest in Lake Nona. The team will also face Florida Atlantic on Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. ET.
