The Georgia men’s tennis team will go on the road to open the 2015 spring season at the MLK Invitational held at Georgia Tech Jan. 17-19 at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex in Atlanta.

“We’re excited to be competing again. It’s been about two months since we competed last, so I think everybody’s excited about the season,” head coach Manuel Diaz said. “It’s our first and last individual tournament of 2015, until we come back in the fall. The spring semester only has one opportunity for these guys to compete individually before we turn to the dual match season.”

The indoor event features four ranked teams with the eighth-ranked Bulldogs joined by No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 16 Columbia and No. 75 Georgia Tech. No team scores will be recorded, but singles and doubles champions will be crowned based on the round robin results.

This marks the second consecutive year Georgia has competed in the MLK Invitational, following last year’s impressive run in Atlanta. Nathan Pasha claimed the singles’ title after an undefeated weekend, and the Bulldogs finished with a combined 20-7 record in singles and doubles, including a 5-0 sweep of the Yellow Jackets in singles on the final day.

Georgia will return home to host Michigan State, Utah and Elon at the ITA Kickoff next weekend Jan. 23-25, held at the Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Facility in Athens.
