Georgia redshirt sophomore Paul Oosterbaan won a pair of matches to reach the quarterfinals of the Cajun Classic Thursday at Louisiana-Lafayette’s Cajun Courts.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Oosterbaan defeated UL-Lafayette’s Arthur Libaud 6-4, 6-4 in his first match, then Oklahoma State’s Lucas Gerch 6-3, 7-6 to advance to Friday’s quarterfinal round against Ole Miss’ Stefan Lindmark.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Senior Nick Wood and freshman Emil Reinberg also won their opening round matches. Wood downed TCU’s Trey Daniel 6-4, 6-7, 6-4, and Reinberg beat Oklahoma State’s Julian Cash 6-4, 6-4. Wood then fell to LSU’s Justin Butsch and Reinberg fell to USC’s Max De Vroome, both by 6-1 scores in the third set.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Walker Duncan dropped his first round match, but rebounded in the consolation draw with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over ULL’s Eric Perez.
[su_spacer size=”40″] “It was a good start to the tournament for Paul, and he played a couple of great matches,” said head coach Manuel Diaz. “Emil had an impressive first match, and I was proud of the way Walker bounced back in his second match of the day. Nick won his first match but let one slip away in the second round. Overall our guys competed well, and hopefully we can continue to improve as we move forward this weekend.”
