The Georgia men’s tennis team will begin play in the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional Championships Friday at the University of Florida’s Ring Tennis Complex at Linder Stadium.

The singles and doubles winners from all 12 regional sites will earn bids to the National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in New York Nov. 12-15.

The Bulldogs will be represented by Walker Duncan, Wayne Montgomery, Emil Reinberg, Austin Smith, Ben Wagland and Nick Wood. Montgomery is seeded second, Smith is third and Duncan is 11th. In doubles, Smith and Wagland are the No. 1 seeds, and Georgia’s other doubles pairs are Montgomery/Reinberg and Duncan/Wood.

Qualifying begins Thursday, and Friday’s schedule includes the final qualifying round followed by two rounds of main draw doubles, one round of main draw singles and one round of qualifying singles consolation. Play starts at 8 a.m., and the five-day tournament concludes on Monday.

The field includes players from UCF, Florida, Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, Mercer, Miami, North Florida, Stetson and South Florida. In Georgia history 12 Bulldogs have won the ITA Regional singles title, including Smith last year in Athens.
