Georgia men’s tennis rising sophomore Emil Reinberg teamed with incoming Bulldog freshman Nathan Ponwith to advance to the doubles finals of the 2016 Lewis and Clark Pro Tennis Classic with their win in Godfrey, Illinois on Thursday.
 
 
Playing at Lewis and Clark Community College, Reinberg and Ponwith’s latest victory came against the doubles tandem of UCLA’s 2016 Doubles All-American and NCAA Doubles Champion Martin Redlicki, who teamed with Texas star George Goldhoff.
 
 
Reinberg and Ponwith took down the talented duo, 4-6, 7-6 (4) [10-6] to advance to the finals, where they will face Venezuelan Jesus Bandres and Argentinean Facundo Mena. The Bulldog tandem reaches the championship match following three wins in the USA F24 Futures event.
 
 
This has been a strong summer for the Georgia men’s tennis team. Most recently, three current Bulldogs — Reinberg, Paul Oosterbaan and Walker Duncan — all advanced to the 32-player main draw of the Wichita Open. In addition, Oosterbaan made his first semifinals appearance at a futures event with six wins at the Tulsa Pro Championships, while Reinberg’s summer was highlighted by a 7-6 (3), 3-6, 7-6 (2) win against Stanford’s No. 1 singles player Tom Fawcett in June.
 
 
The Georgia men’s tennis team returns five letterwinners off of last year’s squad that won their fourth-straight SEC title and advance all the way to the NCAA semifinals. Joining the five letterwinners is the No. 1 signing class in the nation, which includes Ponwith, Robert Loeb, Alex Diaz and Alex Phillips.
