After earning his third collegiate victory, Georgia’s Davis Thompson was chosen Thursday as the Southeastern Conference Co-Golfer of the Week.
Thompson, a senior from Auburn, Ala., finished at 10-under 206 in the Tiger Invitational presented by Jason Dufner on Wednesday. He shared co-medalist honors with Arkansas’ Tyson Reeder as well as the SEC Golfer of the Week award.
Thompson is No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, a spot he has held for five consecutive weeks. He leads the SEC with a scoring average of 69.5 and he has four finishes in the top six this season.
Thompson was named recently to the watch list for the Haskins Award, which is presented annually to the nation’s top player. He is fourth overall and first among SEC golfers in the PGA Tour University rankings.
Thompson and the Bulldogs will return to action March 26-28 in the Old Waverly Collegiate in West Point, Miss.
