The third-ranked Georgia men’s golf team will open the spring portion of its schedule this week in the Gators Invitational presented by VyStar.

The tournament will run Friday through Sunday at the Mark Bostick Golf Course, which has a par-72, 6,701-yard track.

Georgia will use a lineup of fifth-year Spencer Ralston, senior Davis Thompson, junior Trent Phillips, and sophomores Connor Creasy and Nicolas Cassidy. Junior Eli Scott will compete as an individual.

Joining the Bulldogs and host Florida in the tournament will be Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Central Florida, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville, Liberty, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, North Florida, Penn State, South Carolina, South Florida, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Washington, and West Virginia.

Georgia will be paired with Florida, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee in the first round. Tee times have been adjusted to between 8 and 8:40 a.m. due to expected inclement weather later in the day.

Thompson, who was named to the United States Walker Cup Team on Wednesday, enters the spring with an SEC-leading scoring average of 68.67. Ralston is second at 69.33, Creasy is sixth at 69.83, and Phillips is eighth at 70.33.

Georgia played just two spring tournaments a year ago before the pandemic led to the cancelation of the season, including the SEC and NCAA Championships.

“Last season was cut short and we had a really good team, so that was tough to handle,” Cassidy said. “We are excited to have this chance to compete again. We are all driven to see where this team can go, not just this week in Florida but overall this spring.”
