Georgia’s Trent Phillips earned medalist honors for the second time in his career on Saturday in the 2021 Gators Invitational presented by VyStar at the Mark Bostwick Golf Course.
Phillips, a junior from Inman, S.C., wound up at 11-under 199, including a second-round 6-under 65 and a final-round even-par 70 on Saturday. Phillips and Auburn’s Andrew Kozan shared the medalist title.
Phillips previously won the 2019 Ka’anapali Collegiate Classic in Hawaii. Saturday’s title marked the 15th top-10 finish and the 20th top-20 of his career.
As a team, the No. 3-ranked Bulldogs came in second at 24-under 816 after carding a 10-under 270 and a 3-under 277 Saturday as the tournament ended a day early due to anticipated inclement weather. Host Florida took team honors at 29-under 811 on the strength of a final-round 15-under 265. Auburn joined Georgia at 24-under, followed by LSU at 21-under 819.
Senior Davis Thompson and sophomore Connor Creasy landed in 11th at
6-under 204. Thompson signed for a 3-under 67 and a 2-under 68 on Saturday, while Creasy went 2-under 68 and even-par 70. Fifth-year Spencer Ralston (72, 69) and sophomore Nicolas Cassidy (70, 70) each wound up at 1-over 211.
Competing as an individual, junior Eli Scott posted second- and third-round totals of 5-over 75 and 3-over 73 to finish at 7-over 217.
