Costly mistakes from Georgia allowed Auburn to take game one of the weekend series 7-5 on Friday night. The Bulldogs committed three errors to give up four unearned runs. 
 
 
Auburn struck first, but the Bulldogs quickly answered to tie it at four after five innings. However, critical mistakes hurt Georgia. The Bulldogs’ bats produced, but the defense couldn’t put it together. Ultimately, pitching struggles cost Georgia the win.
 
 
Brittany Gray started for Georgia and allowed five hits. After 170 pitches and seven innings, Gray had given up three earned runs and recorded six strikeouts, but she hit three batters and walked 11. The loss marked her fifth of the season. The earned runs aren’t what gave Auburn the game, but the four that scored off walks and hit by pitches were the margin of victory for the Tigers.
 
 

 
 
Georgia tallied nine hits in the game with Sydni Emanuel, Cortni Emanuel and Justice Milz notching two each. The Bulldogs reached on two errors and three walks, as well.
 
 
The Tigers took the momentum in the third inning after a two-out error by freshman Alysen Febrey. The Bulldogs responded in the fourth as Maeve McGuire notched her fourth triple of the season. She scored on a Brea Dickey hit. Then a RBI from Milz allowed Dickey to round the bases and make it 3-2.
 
 

 
 
Auburn scored again in the fifth, but Georgia closed the gap with a two-RBI double from Lacey Sumerlin. The double tied the game at four each. Despite the momentum surge toward Georgia, the Tigers capitalized in the top of the sixth. Auburn opened the inning with a bases-loaded walk, hit by pitch and error which made it 7-4. S. Emanuel tallied a RBI in the bottom frame, but the deficit proved too much.
 
 
Game two of the three-game series airs on ESPN at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
