The Bulldogs have played ten of their twelve games on the regular-season schedule, and on Saturday, for their eleventh, it will be UGA’s final home game of the 2019 college football season. To honor its senior class, the University of Georgia released a trailer for Saturday’s game titled “Dawgs for Life,” and it puts the spotlight on Rodrigo Blankenship, Tyler Clark, Tae Crowder, Brian Herrien, David Marshall, J.R. Reed, Tyler Simmons, and Charlie Woerner, which will be their last time to put on the red and black between the hedges on Dooley Field at Sanford Stadium.
Understandably for those seniors, there are mixed emotions surrounding Saturday’s game versus A&M. On Monday, Bulldogs’ tight end Eli Wolf shared his thoughts about the emotions surrounding the game and Senior Day.
“It’s going to be a little emotional for me,” said Wolf. “My family is going to be there with me and knowing it’s the last time walking out on home field; so, it’s going to be a little emotional.”
Wolf added, “It’s going to be an emotional day, but rightfully so. A few guys will probably tear up, but that’s what that day is for, and these guys have given four years to this program— five in some cases — and it will be great.”
During Monday’s press conference, head coach Kirby Smart was asked what this senior class has meant to and what their impact has been on the University of Georgia and the football program.
“Just proud of everything they’ve meant to our program. Some of those seniors are part of our first class. A few of those, I don’t know how many, the Tae Crowders and Mike Barnetts were already here. So it’s a unique group. It’s the first group that we’ve had for four years, and I’m happy for them,” said Kirby. “I want them to be able to enjoy the moment, but also understand that there’s a very emotional game following it up. When you have the senior day, it’s always an interesting dynamic for those guys because they go out and have a different routine before the game. But they’ve meant so much to this program. Just want them to know that our university and our alumni will be here for them forever, regardless of where they go on to, that we’re going to help them and they’re Dawgs for life.”
