MTEN: Two Big Wins Propel UGA in the Rankings

The University of Georgia men’s tennis team jumped 25 spots up to No. 10 nationally in this week’s edition of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Rankings. 

Georgia also saw an upward trend in the singles and doubles rankings, with four players featured in this week’s release.

Sophomore Philip Henning, who clinched the Bulldogs’ 4-0 win against No. 3 Ohio State, stands at No. 11 in singles, while fellow sophomore Trent Bryde follows close behind at No. 12. Freshman Tyler Zink is ranked 80th and sophomore Blake Croyder is at No. 88. 

 

 

 

 

In doubles, Bryde and Zink, who have bolted out to a 7-1 start at the top court, are now ranked 15th. Croyder and Henning have won five-straight matches and are now ranked 26th nationally. 

As a team, Georgia stands behind USC, North Carolina, Texas, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida, NC State, TCU and Columbia. The Bulldogs made their big jump this week after knocking off No. 3 Ohio State and No. 10 Tennessee over the span of three days. 

Georgia, which welcomed over 2,000 fans this week at the newly renovated Henry Feild Stadium will host No. 11-ranked Ole Miss on Friday at 2:30 p.m. ET. The Bulldogs then welcome No. 41-ranked Mississippi State on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. ET.
