The University of Georgia men’s tennis team will host the Kennesaw State Owls at 2 p.m. Monday. The match is scheduled to take place on the McWhorter Courts at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
Monday’s contest marks the first dual match of the season for the Bulldogs. Georgia competed in the Miami Invitational last weekend, where the team combined to win 20 totals singles and doubles matches, including victories at three of the top four singles courts against No. 2-ranked Texas.
Freshman Erik Grevelius leads the Bulldogs in total singles wins since the fall campaign. The Stockholm, Sweden native is 15-5 overall and has won eight-straight matches. Fellow Georgia rookie Tyler Zink is 4-1 this season and is coming off a big win last weekend when he defeated Texas’ No. 53-ranked Siem Woldeab.
Sophomore Philip Henning is Georgia’s highest-ranked player, coming in at No. 12 in singles and No. 17 in doubles with teammate Blake Croyder. Henning leads Georgia with four wins against ranked opponents.
This will also be the first dual match for Kennesaw State. The Owls were 10-12 overall and 4-3 in the Atlantic Sun Conference during the 2019 spring season.
Monday’s match is the final tuneup before Georgia heads to Starkville, Miss., on Jan. 25-26 for the 2020 ITA Kick-Off Weekend.
