The University of Georgia men’s tennis team announced its spring schedule Tuesday afternoon, with the Bulldogs set to begin the 2021 season on the road in Atlanta for the MLK Tournament, Jan. 16-18.
Georgia will then return home for the next eight events, beginning with matches against Mercer (Jan. 22) and Florida State (Jan. 24). The Bulldogs take on NC State (Jan. 31) and in-state foe Georgia Tech (Feb. 5), before hosting the Bulldog Winter Showdown the next weekend (Feb. 12-14).
“We have a tremendous schedule overall, and our home non-conference schedule is probably the most exciting we’ve had in years,” Georgia head coach Manual Diaz said. “Our guys can’t wait to get out there and compete for each other and our program. They have worked very hard, and we have great expectations this year. We’re looking forward to some incredible matches, especially in front of our fans at home.”
The SEC schedule begins Feb. 19 at home against Tennessee—the first of three-straight conference matches at home for the Bulldogs as they take on Ole Miss (Feb. 26) and Mississippi State (Feb. 28) the following weekend. Georgia’s remaining home slate includes non-conference opponent Wake Forest (March 19) and SEC matchups against Kentucky (March 26), Vanderbilt (March 28) and Texas A&M (April 9).
The schedule also features six road conference contests at Florida (March 5), South Carolina (March 7), Alabama (March 12), Auburn (March 14), Arkansas (April 2), and LSU (April 11).
The 2021 SEC Tournament will take place April 19-23 in Fayetteville, Ark., with the NCAA first and second rounds set to take place May 7-9 at various campus sites. The NCAA Super Regional matches are scheduled for May 14-15, while the NCAA championships will be at the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona, Fla., from May 20-29.
Details regarding fan attendance/policies will be released at a later date.
