The University of Georgia men’s tennis team heads to Georgia Tech this weekend, where the Bulldogs take on the Yellow Jackets on Sunday, Feb. 2, at noon.

The Bulldogs (2-1) are looking for their ninth-straight win over the Jackets (3-1), whom they have ousted in 32 of the last 33 meetings. Georgia owns a 65-9 all-time record against Georgia Tech.

Both teams are coming off losses at the ITA Kickoff event last weekend. In a fight to the finish, the 19th-ranked Bulldogs dropped a 4-3 decision to No. 15 South Carolina. Georgia Tech was blanked by the ninth-ranked Texas A&M Aggies.

Georgia heads into Sunday’s matchup led by sophomore Philip Henning with five wins over ranked opponents. Henning is the team’s highest-ranked player, coming in at No. 12 in singles and No. 17 in doubles with teammate Blake Croyder.

Other key players to the Bulldogs’ success include sophomore Trent Bryde, along with freshmen Tyler Zink and Erik Grevelius. In doubles, Bryde and Zink have teamed up to go 3-0 in consecutive matches so far this season, including a perfect 2-0 mark against ranked opponents. Grevelius, who has won eight of the last nine contests, leads Georgia in overall wins this season with 16.

Georgia’s players are not the only Bulldogs with impressive records this season. Head coach Manny Diaz is approaching the SEC record for all-time career head coaching wins. Diaz, who is now in his 32nd year at the helm, has recorded 702 wins and trails only Bulldog great Dan Magill (706).
