Tristan McCormick — a former five-star prospect who is ranked No. 19 nationally in doubles at Notre Dame — will transfer to the University of Georgia men’s tennis program, head coach Manuel Diaz announced on Thursday.

McCormick will finish this season with Notre Dame and join the Bulldogs as a graduate transfer for the 2021-22 campaign. The Berwyn, Pa., native is part of an already impressive 2021 Georgia signing class, which includes Miguel Perez Peña, Thomas Paulsell and Mathis Debru.

“Tristan will be a great addition to our team,” Diaz said. “He is an experienced player who has excelled during his time at Notre Dame. I know he is looking forward to playing for the Bulldogs in his final season, and we are so thrilled to have him. He will do big things for our team next year.”

McCormick was a highly-recruited player in 2017 after prepping at Dwight School. The Tennis Recruiting Network gave him a five-star ranking after he compiled an 18-2 record against four and five-star prospects as a high school senior.

At Notre Dame, McCormick and teammate Axel Nefve are currently ranked No. 19 nationally in doubles. He has played No. 1 doubles his entire career and reached a career-high No. 9 ranking. As a sophomore, McCormick qualified for the NCAA doubles championship.

McCormick has also reached a top-100 ranking in singles during his career with the Irish . He boasted a 22-10 singles record during his sophomore season, including a 4-2 mark in conference matches.

The signing period for NCAA Division I tennis runs from Nov. 11, 2020 through Aug. 1, 2021.
