The No. 5 Georgia women’s tennis is team is set to host Georgia Southern on Wednesday, Feb. 17 with first serve slated for 12 p.m. at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

The Bulldogs lead the series overall 16-1 with the last time these two teams squaring off coming in 2007 where the Bulldogs swept the Eagles 7-0.

The last time Georgia played Georgia Tech, Georgia State and Georgia Southern all in the same season was the 1999 season. The Bulldogs defeated all three opponent handily, only losing one team point to Georgia Southern.

Georgia Southern comes to Athens with a 1-3 record with their lone win coming against College of Charleston. 

Last time out, the Bulldogs swatted in-state rival No. 9 Georgia Tech 4-1 picking up their second top-10 win of the season. Junior Meg Kowalski clinched the match in a tiebreaker set defeating No. 123 Gia Cohen 6-3, 7-6(8). Senior Katarina Jokic had another career night, taking down two top-15 opponents in both doubles and singles. Jokic and freshman partner Ariana Arseneault upset No. 5 Kenya Jones and Victoria Flores. The back-to-back SEC Player of the Week has now upset three top-10 doubles opponents this season, Arseneault has upset two. In singles, No. 16 Jokic completed her third straight top-30 opponent, taking down No. 13 Jones in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.

While still limited, outdoor matches will be open to the general public— 275 fans are welcome to attend on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

Available seating will be marked in the grandstands, as well as the grass berm behind the lower courts. Fan seating will not be available in the men’s and women’s team clubhouses or in the playing level area adjacent to Court 3.

To enter the Dan Magill Tennis Complex, fans are encouraged to enter through the main entrance in front of the men’s tennis club house. Masks are required at all times while moving throughout the facility. However, those in attendance may remove their masks once socially distanced in their seats.

Fans will not be permitted to attend indoor matches.
