If there has been one consistent message since Kirby Smart returned to Athens, it has been his concern over depth and size. Kirby has mentioned those two things, along with increasing strength, whenever he has been asked about his concerns for the inaugural campaign of his tenure at UGA.
Given lack of size as a problem for the squad, Kirby was asked what he could do to compensate until recruiting can deliver bigger players:
I do think that our guys in the weight room, Coach Sinclair is doing a great job. I have been in constant contact with him in the past couple of days. Kids are right in the middle of finals so that become sort of a discretionary period where they get to do whatever they want to do. We’ve had some kids come into one of work extra, so that’s been a good sign for us.
We’ve got to get stronger, and we got to get more physical. You can recruit that, but you can also train that.
Get it done Dawgs.
