Offensive updates from Tuesday Observation:

Now that the Red and Black are only a measly two and a half weeks away from taking the field at Sanford Stadium, fans are looking for anything and everything to find their football fix to pass time. Luckily enough, Coach Smart offered up an indoor practice viewing while the rain was on  yesterday, so now we have an extra glimpse at what this Georgia Offense may end up looking like. 

Though there has been no official word on who Dawgs are going to start at the quarterback position, practically all signs have pointed to Carson Beck being the guy, and that was emphasized yesterday in a series of hurry up drills where we saw what should be the 1st team offense go up against the 2nd team defense. 

Watching the 1st team offense, it had all signs pointing to Carson Beck being the expected day-one starter, and he sure looked like it out there too. Nothing too flashy was happening out there at practice, but if there’s one takeaway it’s that he’s comfortable with this team. Hurry up is a high pressure situation, and he was a smooth operator amongst that chaos. It’s good to see, but will of course need to be tested under real fire to mean anything of value.

Beck had a particular favoring for senior receiver Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint– connecting with the fellow Florida native multiple times during said hurry up drills. Something to note is that MRJ plays the X receiver position, the same position as touted transfer portal receiver RaRa Thomas. The two will continue to compete for that spot, and it just goes to show that nothing at Georgia is given. 

Along the offensive line, it was Earnest Greene filling in for the now Pittsburgh Steeler, Broderick Jones, at left tackle. If Greene’s able to keep his spot at the top of the depth chart it’ll be the redshirt-freshman’s first significant action. But with the way Georgia and Coach Searels rotate and play lineman though, who knows if that observation will even be relevant in a couple weeks. 

Vandagriff showed good command of the 2nd team offense, and it looks like he’ll start the season at that spot until anything changes. 

The faces might look different, but it  seems like this team is coming together now. With the way Georgia hides its cards though, we won’t truly know anything until these dudes touch dirt. In today’s game change comes fast, and it’s quite the beast. If Kirby can keep these young men leveled-headed that’s all they’ll need to remain the top dawg of college football.
