Georgia equestrian rider Olivia Gaude has been named to the SEC Community Service team, the SEC announced on Wednesday. The conference names a Community Service Team for each of its 21 league-sponsored sports, looking to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to her community through superior service efforts.
[su_spacer size=”40″] The Conyers, Ga. native is currently a junior in the CIDA accredited interior design program at Georgia. Gaude has served as the president and chair of the Georgia equestrian philanthropy committee during the 2014-15 season and is the liaison between the equestrian team and the UGA Athletic Association for community service. Her responsibilities include recording and tracking individual team member’s philanthropic contributions and organizing opportunities for the team. She has been involved in many philanthropic endeavors during her time at Georgia including Safe Routes To School, providing meals for the Athens Homeless Shelter, and collecting lightly used athletic wear for the Nike Gear for Greatness.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Gaude was named to the SEC Academic Honor roll and was a Dean’s List member in the fall of 2014 with a 4.0 GPA. During the 2014-15 season, she was also named as a Top-10 Caterpillar Scholar-Athlete.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Gaude and the rest of the Georgia equestrian team will be back in action March 27-28 when they travel to College Station, Texas for the SEC Championship.
