Former Bulldog swimmer Olivia Smoliga came in fourth in the women’s 100-meter backstroke on Tuesday during the 17th FINA World Championships at Danube Arena.

Smoliga, who capped her Georgia career in March, posted a time of 58.77 on Tuesday. Canada’s Kylie Masse set the world record as she won in 58.10, followed by American Kathleen Baker at 58.58 and Australia’s Emily Seebohm at 58.59.

Also Tuesday, American Pace Clark finished ninth in the men’s 200-meter butterfly semifinals with a time of 1:56.82. Clark, who also ended his Bulldog career in March, will be the first alternate for Wednesday’s finals should anyone scratch.
