During the 2019 season, the Georgia Bulldogs’ receiving core struggled with lack of experience, injuries, and inconsistencies.

Georgia lost its four most productive receivers to the NFL Draft in 2018, and another was booted from the team due to off-the-field issues. Head coach Kirby Smart wasted no time as the 2020 recruiting class contains five receivers, including four-star Justin Robinson.

It was a battle with Notre Dame, but Georgia was able to get Robinson on campus and committed during the Early Signing Period. He enrolled in classes in January.

Class Rankings: Both Rivals and 247Sports have Robinson ranked as a four-star receiver. Rivals ranks him as the No. 189 ranked player nationally, and the No. 36 wide receiver. 247Sports has Robinson ranked No. 296 nationally, and the nation’s No. 48 wide receiver.

High School Highlights:

Robinson played at Eagles Landing Christian Academy and helped lead them to a 13-1 record winning the GHSA Class-A Private state championship. This was the school’s fourth-straight title.

During his junior year, the Eagles went 13-1 and beat out Athens Academy 44-17 in the Class-A Private state championship game. In that game, Robinson caught five passes for 90 yards and a touchdown. That season, he hauled in 34 passes for 748 yards and 12 scores.

What to expect:

Robinson is the only one of the new five signees that will get to come in and participate in spring practice as he has a chance to impress Smart, and wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton.

Robinson will have to battle a lot of receivers coming back, but his strong hands and known blocking ability are something that could stick out. Smart praises his receiver that can block on the perimeter and this ability could bode well for Robinson.

With new offensive coordinator Todd Monken coming in, Robinson and the wide receiving room will learn a whole new offense that’s pass-heavy with many vertical routes.
