Around 4:00 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon, class of 2018 Peach County High School wide receiver Kearis Jackson announced his decision to commit to the University of Georgia. Jackson has over 24 scholarship offers and chose to commit to the Bulldogs over Alabama, Auburn, Florida, FSU, LSU, Michigan, and Ohio State. He makes commitment number twelve for the Georgia coaching staff and is the third commitment this week for the Dogs.
Jackson stands at 5 foot 11.5 and a stout 203 lbs and is considered one of the top wide receivers in the 2018 recruiting class in the state of Georgia. He is ranked as a four-star prospect by 247 Sports, ESPN, Rivals, and Scout. Jackson is considered the No. 4 WR in the nation by ESPN and 247 has him as the No. 25 receiver. Both Rivals and Scout have Jackson as the No. 33 and No. 39 WR respectively.
UGA received a commitment from another WR earlier in the week when Elijah Moore announced on Tuesday that he was “Committing to the ‘G’.” So, what type of receiver is Kearis Jackson?
As a junior last year, he hauled in 52 catches for 739 yards and nine touchdowns, and he then added another 149 yards and four touchdowns rushing the ball. Jackson is also a dangerous returner on special teams as he 491 yards returning kicks and punts for Peach County. Combined, that’s an impressive 1,379 yards of offense. He has good speed putting up a time of 10.7 seconds in the 100-meter dash on the track and also posting an official 4.57 in the forty at Nike The Opening. Jackson gets off the line of scrimmage quickly and into his route, and once he gets the ball into his hands, he is a threat to take it to the house each time.
