What life lessons did you learn while at UGA?
I learned how to multi-task, budget, and prioritize my time during college. I met most of my best friends during college and we still get together and re-live the glory days. I also learned the ability to laugh at myself.
What professor did you most admire?
Conrad Fink. His baby blue four door Cadillac had an antennae on it that was about 10 feet tall and it had guy wires going back to the bumper for his HAM radio set up in the car.
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
My family is my greatest achievement. My wife and children have enriched my life and given me so much to be thankful for.
What historical figure do you most identify with?
Winston Churchill is a person I really admire. His unrelenting ability to stand up against Nazi Germany and to provide so much leadership and comfort his country during wartime has always inspired me.
Who are your heroes in real life?
My real hero was my Father. He taught me how to be a good man and a good friend. He taught me the most important things in life can’t be bought. He was also the funniest man I ever knew.
Quote to live by:
“Friendship is a mutual devotedness to the good and true.” – Sir Thomas Carlyle
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
My idea of perfect happiness is a beautiful day in the woods or on the water and a home-cooked dinner with the family. A dinner filled with lively debate and racous laughter and maybe a glass of wine or three.
What is your most marked characteristic?
My most marked characteristic is my sense of humor.
What do you most value in your friends?
Loyalty
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
If I could change anything about me it would be to have some kind of musical ability either singing or playing an instrument. I must have been behind the door when God was passing it out.
Who are your favorite writers?
Ferrol Sams, Robert Ruark, Lewis Grizzard, Ronda Rich.
They all paint a complex picture of characters and places from the Southern perspective. They can tell a good story.
What is your favorite social media to follow?
I do not have any Facebook or Instagram heroes. I do enjoy The Poor Man’s Game Notes by our own Ryan Scates. It is an excellent read before every football game.
