What life lessons did you learn while at UGA? The importance of learning both “in” and “outside” the classroom.

What professor did you most admire? Colonel Ed Black, Professor of Finance in General who was able to combine classroom humor and tactical theory in teaching finance to UGA’s business school majors.

What do you consider your greatest achievement? Raising three wonderful children, all of whom I am very proud.

Which historical figure do you most identify with? Cincinnatus: a selfless and respected military and political leader who humbly chose to return to his rural and agricultural roots rather than seek the fame associated with Roman dictatorship.

Who are your heroes in real life? My father, James Fiveash, who passed away in 2005, and Abit Massey, a long-term mentor, who just died in June of 2024.

What is your idea of perfect happiness? Somewhere in Georgia on the water or in an open seed-field with a shot-gun and a dog.

What is your most marked characteristic?  I hope it’s altruism.

What do you most value in your friends? Loyalty “Make new friends, keep the old; one is silver, the other gold.”

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? My height (If only to be as tall as UGA’s Howard Young or Otis Jones!)

Who are your favorite writers? Thomas Carlyle because he challenged the establishment in political and religious institutions while also inspiring his readers to explore life’s true purpose.

Fave social media (and why)? LinkedIn for its business-focused platform and Pinterest to fuel the creative side for residential real estate projects.
