What life lessons did you learn while at UGA? 

Tipping well pays dividends. I took my wife (then girlfriend) to dinner at Bissett’s for her 21st birthday and inadvertently left an obscene tip. I was a sophomore at the time and let’s just say I never again waited in line or had trouble getting a dinner reservation on home game weekends or any weekend for that matter. I sure do miss that place and all our friends that congregated there.

‌What professor did you most admire? 

I can’t remember specifically, but it was one of my economics professors. One summer (why leave Athens for the summer?), there was a fire in Brooks Hall and the top floor went up in flames. On the day of the final, we walked in, and our professor informed us that his computer and files had burned up so he had written a new exam which rendered the old test files at my fraternity house useless. To everyone’s surprise, there was only one question: What grade do you think you deserve in this class?

‌Which historical figure do you most identify with? 

George Washington, the modern Cincinnatus. By resigning his commission back to the Continental Congress in order to return to life as a farmer, Washington demonstrated the true character of a citizen soldier.

Who are your heroes in real life? 

My late father, Pomeroy Williams, and my father-in-law, Fred Warnell. Their incredible work ethic coupled with their love for family and faith in God keep me working in the right direction.

‌What is your idea of perfect happiness? 

Boat days with my family. Whether we are crabbing, tubing, or sitting on the beach with a cold beverage, the salt water in the Low Country seems to make all your worries fade away.

‌What do you consider your greatest achievement? 

My daughter Kahrs and my son Charles. They are my “invaluable loan,” the joys of my life.

What is your most marked characteristic? 

I am fiercely loyal. I am always willing to help in any capacity, whether it be lending a hand or an ear. I’m a very good listener although my wife may beg to differ.

‌What do you most value in your friends?

Honesty.

‌If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? 

Time management. I am a professional procrastinator.

‌Who are your favorite writers? 

Oliver Yorke of Fraser’s Magazine fame. There are a lot of pearls of wisdom in those volumes.
