What life lessons did you learn while at UGA?

Don’t take yourself too seriously. Be humble. Be able to laugh at yourself. Don’t chew ice after a long afternoon of partaking in nickel Long Island Teas on the TK Hardy’s patio. Working as a House Boy at the Chi O sorority was a pretty good gig.

What professor did you most admire?

Dr. Keith Karnok who taught Turfgrass and Agronomy. He was a recipient of the “Josiah Meigs Award for Excellence in Teaching” and made learning fun!

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Other than my success as a skilled parallel car-parker and raising our three children. I am so proud of each of them and for the mature young adults that they have become.

Who are your heroes in real life?

My parents. The unconditional love, role modeling, patience, encouragement and supportiveness, Christian values that they instilled in me, help make me strive to be a better person every day.

Quote(s) to live by:

“The game of life is a lot like football. You have to tackle your problems, block your fears and score your points when you get the opportunity.” Lewis Grizzard

“It’s better to have and not need than to need and not have,” my momma.

Ann English’s motto when packing for the beach and her most popular quote that we used to hear every time we left the house, “Don’t embarrass the family!”

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

More patience.

Who are your favorite writers?

Without a doubt, the sports writings of Furman Bisher and the unforgettable humor of Lewis Grizzard on life in the South, his Mount Rushmore of Georgia BBQ- Harold’s , Sprayberry’s and Fresh-Air BBQ and his beloved BullDAWGS.

Fave social media and who to follow?

Comedian Nate Bargatze- his clean humor with his references to family and everyday life in the South.
