What life lessons did you learn while at UGA?
“I learned that there is a fine line between studying and socializing. I spent the first two years focusing on band parties, Gumby’s Pizza, and downtown Athens. The “freshman 15” was more like the “freshman 40″ for me. I would tell any incoming freshman to have fun, get involved on campus and beware of eating after midnight.”
What professor did you most admire (and why)?
“President Jere Morehead. I met President Morehead my first week of school in 1999. He will be the first to tell you that I put more time and effort in to my social life than I did studying, but he had a profound impact on my life at UGA. Throughout his tenure, his dedication to the University and the thousands of lives he’s touched is a true testament to his character and loyalty.”
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
“Being offered the Assistant Manager position at McDonald’s at the ripe age of 15. Seriously though – hands down, my family. They are everything to me.”
Which historical figure do you most identify with?
“Winston Churchill – He was accident prone, known to invent a word or two, had a formidable appetite, and had some amazing quotes – this being my favorite ‘If you’re not a liberal when you’re 25, you have no heart. If you’re not a conservative by the time you’re 35, you have no brain.’ “
Who are your heroes in real life?
“My parents. They are pillars in the community, loyal to their friends, and devoted to their family.”

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
“Relaxing on the beach in St. Simons with my family. My children are laughing as they build sand castles and ask me to dig a giant hole. There may or may not be cold beverages, too.”

“My effortless charm. Or my humility.”
What do you most value in your friends?
“A sense of humor. Some people really need to stop and smell the sunshine.”
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
“Renew my body, set at 17.”
Who are your favorite writers (and why)?
“Sir Thomas Carlyle, those who have read his greatest work, SartorResartus, understand the importance of his words and the hook at the end.”
