Saturday’s Georgia baseball game at Georgia Southern was halted in the bottom of the second inning due to rain. It will resume Sunday at 1 p.m. at J.I. Clements Stadium with the final game of the series to follow 30 minutes after completing the halted game.
When play was stopped Saturday, the game was 0-0. Bulldog junior left-hander Ryan Lawlor had allowed a leadoff single to second baseman Kent Rollins and the count was 1-0 on catcher C.J. Brazil. Then following a nearly two-hour rain delay, the decision was made to suspend the contest.
Georgia (6-2) was retired in order in the top of the first by GSU right-hander Tripp Sheppard and then wasted a leadoff double from senior designated hitter Jared Walsh in the second. Meanwhile, the Eagles (6-4) left the bases loaded in the first. GSU has a 1-0 lead in the series after posting a 4-3 decision on Friday.
