I caught up with rising star Mecole Hardman, for the latest on his recruitment:
Me: What are some things you are working on this offseason?
Mecole Hardman: I just want to get better every single day and try to improve for my team. Specifically by working on my footwork, running routes correctly and my coverage skills as a DB.
Me: What position would you like to play on the next level?
Mecole Hardman: Either Wide Receiver or DB. It really doesn’t matter to me, it probably just depends on which school I go to.
Me: What schools are coming at you the hardest right now?
Mecole Hardman: Tennessee and Georgia at the top. Clemson, Ole Miss, FSU and UNC.
Me: What are your thoughts on UGA and what position are they recruiting you at?
Mecole Hardman: I love Georgia. Their coaching staff is very cool and their academics are at the top! They are recruiting me at Cornerback.
Me: Which UGA Coaches have you talked with the most and have they mentioned specifics on how they would use you?
Mecole Hardman: I was talking to Coach Letson the most! But they all just say they see me as a difference maker specifically on defense and on special teams. They want me to lock WR’s down.
Me: I heard you tore it up at the Rising Seniors Bowl last week. What was your favorite part?
Mecole Hardman: My favorite part was just learning from all the speakers about life after football..and playing with all those other guys there.
Me: Are their any High School players you would like to play with on the next level?
Mecole Hardman: I’d love to play with Demetris Robertson, Levonta Taylor, Julian Rochester, Derrick Brown, Isaac Nauta or Elijah Holyfield. Any of them.
Me: What was your favorite part of this past season?
Mecole Hardman: My first game back from injury against Oconee. Just being back with my team and being able to play again was great.
Me: What are you looking for the most when deciding on your College Destination?
Mecole Hardman: Academics, great coaching staff, tradition, Championship contenders and a great campus life.
Mecole Hardman was described last week at the Rising Senior’s bowl as being “electric”, “a playmaker” and “One of the best on the field”. The 4-star from Elbert County Georgia was already extremely sought after, but will now likely be made a top priority for many College Programs. He tells me his decision will not come any time soon and that he will likely wait until after taking multiple official visits to his top schools. It is clear that Georgia likes Hardman, and that Hardman has interest in Georgia too.
