The heat and humidity is subsiding giving way to comfortable temperatures and beautiful blue skies. Fall has arrived to Athens, Georgia, and it brings many exciting events to the Classic City of the South like University of Georgia football on Saturdays, but football is not the only thing to do in Athens. What is AthHalf?
[su_spacer size=”20″] The AthHalf Half Marathon helps fund the AthFest Educates, a non-profit organization that awards grants to schools, local non-profits, and local government agencies that operate music and arts programs for youth in grades kindergarten through fifth grade.

[su_spacer size=”20″] The AthHalf Half Marathon is 13.1 miles or 21.1 kilometers long.
[su_spacer size=”40″] How long do I have to complete the course?
[su_spacer size=”20″] All participants are given a time limit of 4 hours to complete the 13.1 mile course.
[su_spacer size=”40″] When and where does the AthHalf Marathon take place?
[su_spacer size=”20″] The race starts at 7:30 AM EST on Sunday, October 25, 2015
[su_spacer size=”20″] The half marathon’s course starts in downtown Athens, Georgia and ends at the Tate Student Center on the University of Georgia Campus.
[su_spacer size=”20″] The race will start on Washington Street near the City Hall and will take participants over Prince Avenue through the historic district of Cobbham over to Milledge Avenue down to Five Points. From there, runners and walkers will head down Lumpkin Street to Gran Ellen to Memorial Park and back to Milledge Avenue and then over to Riverbend Road towards the UGA Golf Course to College Station Road through the UGA Campus. Participants will finish at the Tate Student Center on the Campus of the University of Georgia on the West Lawn.

[su_spacer size=”20″] Unfortunately, no, and the main reason is for safety reasons for the pets and your infant or toddler as well as for participants and volunteers.

[su_spacer size=”20″] No. There is a weekend of events that includes a Health and Fitness Expo on October 24th from 12-6 PM at the Classic Center in addition to the AthHalf Marathon. There will also be live music.
[su_spacer size=”40″] How much does it cost to register for AthHalf and when is the deadline?
[su_spacer size=”20″] You will have till October 24th to register for AthHalf, but if you register before October 1st, the registration fee is $80.00, a discount of $10.00.
