Success in big-time college football is all about sweating the details. If Kirby Smart learned anything from his time with Nick Saban it is that the minutia matter. Divide responsibilities among adequate, competent staff and hold them accountable for results. All that is needed to complete the formula is funding and a driven CEO.
When Smart was quoted as saying that he would not hurry when putting together his staff, you thought he was talking about assistant coaches, right? He was, but based on his expanding support staff he had also received a commitment from Georgia’s administration to provide a more Alabama-like quality control cadre.
The website FootballScoop.com focuses on college coaching job changes. This morning it reported:

Mississippi State offensive quality control James Vollono has agreed to join the staff at Georgia as assistant special teams coordinator source tells FootballScoop.

If the report is accurate, coach Shane Beamer (special teams coordinator and tight ends coach) will now have two assistants to help him improve Georgia’s often inconsistent special teams performance.
