Journalists, broadcasters, and fans expecting Georgia to arrive in Jacksonville with a new offensive scheme will be disappointed.  Georgia is going to play Georgia football on offense.  What exactly does that mean?  It means Georgia is going to play physical, at a methodical pace, and run to set up the pass.  For better or worse that is the identity of this team.

Since the loss to South Carolina and the slop-fest against Kentucky the national narrative has been:

1. The offense is inept;

2. The offensive line is overrated;

3. The receivers can’t create separation; and

4. Jake Fromm can’t win if the run game is not working.

Each of these criticisms is fair game. The offense has been predictable and stagnant at times.  The offensive line did not play up their standard against South Carolina.  The young receiving corps has struggled to get open.  Jake Fromm is now 0-5 when he has had to throw 30 or more passes in a game.  Frankly, things sound bleak offensively for the Dawgs.  

However, we have seen this each year in the Jake Fromm era.  In 2017, Fromm and the UGA offense played terrible against Auburn and went on to play for the National Championship.  In 2018, the Georgia offense was embarrassed by LSU then dominated the Gators two weeks later en route to another SEC Championship game appearance.  The Dawgs backs are against the wall and if history tells us anything, that is when Coach Smart’s Dawgs come out swinging.

There is no more “rat poison”.  The only people who believe this team can still reach the Playoffs are in that locker room and Coach Smart wouldn’t haven’t any other way.  This team can finally play with a chip on their shoulder instead of a target on their back.
