Georgia adds its third commitment of the day with the latest pledge coming from Rian Davis. The four-star inside linebacker chose Georgia over Texas, Louisville, and Alabama. With Davis’s commitment, the Bulldogs picked up their sixth pick up in July.
According to the latest 247Sports composite rankings, he ranks as the No. 68 overall player, the No. 5 OLB and the No. 7 prospect in Florida. Davis holds 41 offers with the latest coming from Michigan on June 7. On June 4 he released a top four which included Georgia, Texas, Louisville and Alabama.
He visited Texas on June 15, Alabama on June 22, Auburn on June 24 and came back to Georgia on July 28. Texas appeared to be the closest competition for the Florida linebacker, but in the end, he chose the Bulldogs.
Davis took to Twitter to announce his decision. The decision came after he attended Georgia’s West Endzone reveal event.
“First off I would like to thank god for putting me into the position I am today,” Davis posts on his Twitter. “I would also like to thank my mother and father and uncle for guiding and molding me into the man I am today. I also want to thank my coaches and teammates at Wekiva and clear lake for pushing me in the weight room and on the field and in the classroom to be the best student-athlete I can be and lastly I would like to thank all the coaches that took time to watch my film and recruit me. I want to thank the Georgia coaching staff for showing me so much love and making this decision easier especially coach Schumman, coach Fountain, and coach Smart. With that being said, I have decided to continue my academic and athletic career at THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA, GO DAWGS – Trouble”
Last season, Davis recorded 93 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, three sacks, six pass breakups, two interceptions, and two fumble recoveries, both for touchdowns.
Davis gives Georgia it’s 16th commitment and its 10th four-star for the 2019 class. Georgia moves up to No. 2 in the overall rankings and No. 2 in the SEC rankings.
